J&Okay: Municipal councillor, policeman shot useless by militants in Sopore
A municipal councillor and a policeman had been killed and one other councillor was injured in a militant assault exterior the municipal workplace within the Sopore space of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The militants focused the councillors whereas they had been holding a gathering on the Lone Building, the place the workplace of the Sopore Municipal Council is positioned.
In a tweet, J&Okay Police mentioned that police personnel Shafqat Ahmad and councillor Riyaz Ahmad had been killed within the assault whereas one other councillor Shams-ud-din Peer was injured.
“Injured shifted to hospital for treatment. Area cordoned off and further details shall follow,” police tweeted.
Police sources mentioned that the injured councillor is the father-in-law of a slain councillor and is in essential situation. He has been referred to Srinagar, they mentioned.
The newest assault comes two days after two militants and a soldier had been killed in a fierce gunfight in South Kashmir. The encounter was the third gunfight in Shopian, a militant hotbed, in current days.
