A devastating incident in Hassan district, Karnataka, resulted in the loss of at least nine lives and left many injured when a tanker lorry collided with a Ganesh immersion procession on Friday night. The accident occurred in Mosale Hosahalli village during the final day of Chaturthi celebrations. The driver of the lorry was also injured in the crash, which took place between 8 PM and 8:45 PM. The deceased include six villagers and three engineering students. In response to the tragedy, the Karnataka government has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each family that lost a member. Both Chief Minister Siddaramiah and former CM HD Kumaraswamy offered their condolences to the families and expressed their wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured individuals.
