Hyderabad witnessed a surge of activism Tuesday when Kalvakuntla Kavitha, head of Telangana Jagruti, orchestrated a massive women’s protest against the Congress government’s election betrayals. More than 1,000 participants stormed Praja Bhavan, demanding action on stalled commitments.
Kavitha, a former parliamentarian, guided the group through chants targeting unfulfilled vows like 10 grams gold for brides, electric scooters for schoolgirls, and ₹2,500 monthly stipends for women across Telangana. The energy was palpable as they handed over a memorandum to authorities.
Post-submission, Kavitha intensified her appeal, calling for dedicated funds in the next budget session. She spotlighted promises to frontline workers in Anganwadi and ASHA programs, accusing the government of total neglect after 26 months at the helm.
Labeling Congress the ‘epitome of deceit,’ she listed priorities: women’s aid, student scooters, ₹4,000 pensions, and enhancements for seniors, disabled individuals, and others. Amid the demands, a warm tribute emerged—Kavitha’s birthday wishes to her father, ex-CM KCR, shared on X.
Her trajectory reflects resilience: suspended from BRS for dissent, she resigned from the Legislative Council and now steers Telangana Jagruti, her Telangana movement-era initiative. Early this month, she teased a new political venture within three months.
This demonstration not only amplifies women’s grievances but positions Kavitha as a formidable voice, challenging the Congress to back rhetoric with results or face escalating public ire.
