Key 26/11 Mumbai Attack Conspirator Confesses to ISI Spy Role

Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key conspirator in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has confessed to being a trusted spy for the ISI and the Pakistan army. He stated that he was in Mumbai during the attacks. Rana, currently in Delhi’s Tihar Jail under NIA custody, revealed he and his associate, David Coleman Headley, underwent multiple training sessions with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistan-based terror group. He told the Mumbai Crime Branch that LeT functioned as a spy network for Pakistan, working with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Rana acknowledged that he orchestrated the Mumbai immigration center through his firm and framed the transactions as business expenses. He also confirmed that he conducted surveillance of the targets, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), and confirmed the 26/11 attacks as an ISI plot. The Mumbai Police are preparing for Rana’s formal arrest. Rana, a Pakistani-born Canadian, was extradited to India in May.
