Kharge Accuses Modi of Poll Code Breach in Key Speech
1 min readIn a fiery rebuttal, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge branded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation as a political tirade that flouts the Model Code of Conduct. What was billed as an official communication devolved into a barrage of smears and fabrications against opposition parties, Kharge charged, amid ongoing elections.
On X, Kharge expressed dismay: ‘A dejected PM with empty hands after 12 years weaponized a national platform for politicking while the code of conduct binds us all. Attacking foes via government levers insults democratic ethos and constitutional sanctity.’ He zeroed in on the speech’s lopsided emphasis—Congress invoked 59 times, women hardly at all—exposing BJP’s skewed agenda.
Affirming Congress’s commitment, Kharge detailed their stewardship of women’s quota legislation, from 2010 Rajya Sabha passage to 2023 support. ‘Notify and enact 33% seats for women immediately from the 543 existing ones. Delimitation is a separate issue, not a precondition,’ he insisted.
Kharge’s litany of Congress triumphs included transformative revolutions in farming and dairy, space feats, nuclear prowess, liberalization, transparency laws, rural employment, and food rights, plus pro-women reforms. He flipped the script on BJP, decrying their handling of atrocities in Hathras, Unnao, wrestlers’ protests, Bilkis Bano, and internal cover-ups, backed by NCRB figures showing peak crimes in their states.
Wrapping up, Kharge portrayed a government adrift, offering no fixes for inflation, economic decay, or public plight after 12.5 years of rule.
