Union Minister Kiren Rijiju described a significant incident in Ladakh where his convoy came upon a vehicle accident. The accident involved a vehicle that went into a river near Drass. Sharing the news on his ‘X’ account, Rijiju reported that both individuals were rescued. “Before reaching Drass in Ladakh, a vehicle fell into the river right in front of our convoy. Fortunately, we were on time and both individuals survived,” Rijiju wrote. The minister also shared details of his experiences in Sonmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, the day prior. He expressed his gratitude to the administrative bodies of Ganderbal and Kargil, and he acknowledged the warm welcome he received from his guide, Mohammad Sidiq Mir. Rijiju wrote, “On the way to Kargil, I had a memorable moment at Sonmarg. Grateful to both administrations of Ganderbal and Kargil. Thanks to senior guide Mohammad Sidiq Mir and other friends of Sonmarg for the wonderful company! Real development is happening now. Common people of Kashmir are great hosts & they are dead against the violence perpetrated by the enemies.” In addition to the rescue, Rijiju also reacted to statements made by Syeda Hameed, a former Planning Commission member, regarding the potential for Bangladeshis to reside in India. He criticized her statements, claiming that she was misleading people in the name of humanity and should not be supportive of illegal migrants.
