On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three metro projects in Kolkata. While West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was invited, she will not be attending the ceremony. Rail Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu, speaking with TV9 Bharatvarsh, said that the metro will continue to operate whether or not Mamata Banerjee attends. Information indicates the Chief Minister will not be present.
Bittu noted the significance of the bond between Punjab and Bengal, emphasizing the unity of India and the historical significance of the area. He also discussed the end of the parliamentary session and the Prime Minister’s upcoming inauguration of a 3900 crore rupees project. Bittu noted that the public in West Bengal had long demanded the Orange, Yellow and Green Line projects, which the Prime Minister will now inaugurate. Bittu stated that all states must develop for India to become a developed nation, regardless of the ruling party or chief minister.
He emphasized that such projects would benefit the public. He suggested that West Bengal MPs propose similar projects. Bittu discussed the Prime Minister’s focus on the people of West Bengal, and the metro expansion which will cover over 13 kilometers. He also spoke about how the metro would improve airport access for travelers by saving them time and providing a comfortable journey.
Bittu stated that political disagreements often harm the state. He urged for collaboration between the state and the Prime Minister on major projects, not political battles. He reiterated that the metro would operate regardless of the Chief Minister’s presence. He highlighted the planned cultural programs and performances by international artists for the event. He reiterated that the Prime Minister represents the entire country.
