Landslide hits Indian Army firm location in Manipur, 13 rescued

NEW DELHI: The Indian Army’s Company location in Manipur was hit by a landslide round midnight. A full-scale rescue operation is underway.

The Indian Army in its assertion stated, “Around midnight of 29/ 30 June, a massive landslide struck the company location of 107 Territorial Army of the Indian Army”. The army was deployed near Tupul Railway Station in Noney district, Manipur for protection of an under-construction railway line from Jiribam to Imphal.”

Till about 0530hr, 13 people have been rescued. Sources confirmed that two lifeless our bodies have additionally been recovered. The injured people are being handled at Noney Army Medical unit. Evacuation of the critically injured personnel is in progress. The circulation of the Ijai river has been affected as a result of landslide.

Full-scale rescue operations are in progress by columns of Indian Army and Assam Rifles. In addition, the accessible engineer plant gear on web site has been pressed into the rescue efforts.
