A tale of forbidden love and cold-blooded murder has gripped Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar. Anjali, married against her will, allegedly teamed up with boyfriend Sanjay and two youths to eliminate her husband Ashish in a meticulously planned assault.
The 27-year-old teacher, wed to Anjali on October 30, 2024, had no inkling of the conspiracy. Her pre-marital romance with Sanjay was family-known, yet ignored. After marriage, her plea to pursue education nearby—to be with him—was shot down.
Plotting intensified during a clandestine meet at her parents’ 16 days before January 30. That night, Anjali coaxed Ashish for a post-meal stroll to a desolate road by Rawla village. Hidden assailants pounced, clubbing his head viciously before garroting him when blows failed.
Medical reports pinpointed head wounds and strangulation as cause of death. Anjali’s ruse involved passing Ashish’s phone and her earrings to perpetrators for a robbery cover-up. Found ‘unconscious’ by the body, she was hospitalized; he didn’t survive.
Police cracked the case, nabbing Anjali (23), Sanjay (25), Rohit (20), and Badal (20). SP Amrita Duhan announced custodies: two days for Anjali, five for others, with probes ongoing.
This village horror mirrors urban scandals like Indore’s honeymoon killing, underscoring how rejected love can spiral into violence. Experts advocate premarital counseling to prevent such tragedies.
