Alert action by Delhi Police’s ANTF Shahdara has disrupted a local drug operation in Geeta Colony. On Wednesday, a tip led to the arrest of 19-year-old Rupa from Safeda Jhuggi, with 55.52 grams of smack recovered from her possession—an amount deemed intermediate under the NDPS Act, ensuring severe legal repercussions.
The precision raid was commanded by Inspector Vinod Kumar, with oversight from ACP Ram Shankar Gotewal and DCP Shahdara. The dedicated squad, including key personnel like HC Rajesh, HC Vedpal, and Constable Shivani, cornered Rupa at her home and retrieved the concealed polythene packet from her lower’s pocket.
Interviews post-arrest exposed Rupa’s supplier connections and her motive: supplementing her daily wage earnings through crime. Her rap sheet includes two prior cases, marking her as a habitual offender. Case FIR 80/26 under NDPS Section 21 stands at Geeta Colony station, while follow-up raids target the broader network.
Amid Delhi Police’s zero-tolerance drive on narcotics, this bust highlights vulnerabilities in slum areas. Ongoing investigations could lead to sweeping arrests, bolstering public safety and deterring future peddlers.
