Punjab’s fight against drug cartels intensified with Amritsar Commissionerate’s daring raids that exposed two highly organized cross-border smuggling outfits. The sweeps resulted in 10 arrests and a massive recovery: 5.438 kilograms of heroin, three elite handguns (Glock 9mm, Zigana 9mm, .32 bore), 34 live cartridges, and Rs 4,500 cash.
Digging deeper, officers uncovered a social media-orchestrated nexus with smugglers in Pakistan. Heroin and arms crossed the border stealthily, feeding into a distribution pipeline that serviced shadowy markets in various locales.
Legal action is swift, with FIRs invoked under NDPS and Arms Acts. The probe aims to sever all ties, promising more arrests soon.
This success bolsters Punjab Police’s ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, which has netted 103 traffickers over 363 days, along with 4 kg heroin, thousands of pills, and drug funds. Parallelly, 31 addicts were guided towards recovery.
In a firm statement, police reiterated their commitment: no mercy for narco-terror links. Public tips are solicited to fortify these efforts and safeguard communities from escalating threats.
