In a rapid series of raids conducted across Churachandpur and Imphal East districts, security agencies detained five militants within 24 hours. Intelligence inputs led teams to hideouts linked to the banned United Kuki National Army and Manipur Revolutionary Army. Recovered items included an AK-47 magazine, an INSAS rifle, a pistol, ammunition, grenades and a bulletproof jacket. Investigators also seized phones, an Aadhaar card and a scooter. Meanwhile, on National Highway-102, police apprehended a suspected narcotics courier and confiscated 189 kilograms of poppy seeds along with the vehicle used for transport. The operations form part of a wider campaign that combines area domination exercises, vehicle checks at 114 nakas and protective escorts for civilian convoys. Authorities stressed that social-media rumors are being monitored and that anyone sharing fake content faces prosecution. The combined seizures illustrate the persistent overlap between armed groups and the illegal drug economy in Manipur, reinforcing the need for sustained, multi-agency pressure.
