Manipur video: Seventh accused in sexual assault case arrested

The Manipur Police on Monday arrested yet another accused in reference to the bare parading and molestation of two tribal girls on May 4 within the Kangpokpi district.
So far, since a purported video of the incident lately surfaced on-line, the police have arrested seven accused within the case.
Officials stated that the seventh accused was arrested from Thoubal district.
Police had made the primary arrest on Thursday, a day after a 26-second video of the horrific incident surfaced on July 19. Three extra arrests have been made later that day. The fifth accused, 19-year-old youth, was additionally arrested on Saturday.
One of the ladies seen within the video is the spouse of an ex-army man, who served as a subedar within the Assam Regiment and had even fought within the Kargil War.

Meanwhile, irate mobs earlier set ablaze the homes of absconding suspect L. Kabichandra, 20, in Wangjing space in Thoubal and essential accused Huirem Herodas Singh at Yairipok village in Thoubal.
At least 160 folks have been killed and several other hundred injured since ethnic violence broke out within the state on May 3, when a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised within the hill districts to protest towards the bulk Meitei neighborhood’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) standing.
