Mann’s Emotional Tribute to Jallianwala Bagh Martyrs on Massacre Day
1 min readCHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann marked the tragic Jallianwala Bagh centennial observance with an emotional tribute to the freedom fighters massacred by British forces. In his X post, he invoked the martyrs’ ultimate sacrifice, calling on all Punjabis to forge ahead and create the prosperous state they fought for.
April 13, 1919, stands as one of the darkest days in modern history. Peaceful demonstrators, including women and children, were trapped and fired upon in the enclosed garden, resulting in unimaginable loss. This massacre shifted the independence struggle into high gear, exposing the Raj’s iron fist.
‘Heartfelt pranams to the heroic martyrs of Amritsar’s Jallianwala Bagh,’ Mann declared. ‘Their blood against the English tyranny fuels our patriotism across generations. United, we must build their dreamed Punjab.’
Joining him, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan called the event a soul-stirring tragedy that defines true freedom. AAP’s Punjab wing and MLA Amar Pal Kishan Kot reiterated the day’s role in awakening national consciousness against oppression.
Beyond remembrances, today’s tributes spotlight Punjab’s ongoing journey. Mann’s government highlights initiatives in agriculture, education, and healthcare as steps toward that visionary Punjab—free from corruption, rich in opportunities, and united in purpose.
As wreaths are laid and sirens sound at 9 AM across the state, the focus remains on turning historical pain into progressive momentum. The martyrs’ spirit lives on, guiding Punjab toward a future of dignity and development.
