Gopalganj district police struck gold in their anti-smuggling drive, confiscating approximately 8900 liters of high-end foreign alcohol worth 60-70 lakh rupees from a truck on National Highway 27. The daring interception led to the arrest of the driver and another individual linked to the operation.
Directed by senior officer Vinay Tiwari, the Kuchaykot police team was conducting meticulous checks at the outpost. Suspicion arose from the truck’s demeanor, prompting a document review followed by a comprehensive search. Inside, they found meticulously packed cartons of premium liquor meant for Bihar’s underground trade.
The driver, a Rajasthan resident, confessed during initial grilling that the load was procured for sale in the prohibition-enforced state. This brazen attempt highlights smugglers’ persistence despite severe penalties.
In a statement, Sadar SDPO Pranjal outlined the immediate measures: impounding the truck, detaining the duo, cataloging the booze, and launching inquiries into the supply chain. Efforts focus on identifying origins, destinations, and accomplices via communication records and logistics papers.
With vigilance intensified across checkposts, police aim to choke smuggling arteries. This coup not only inflicts financial damage on traffickers but also signals unwavering enforcement of Bihar’s liquor ban. As the case unravels, it may unearth a larger conspiracy, fortifying the state’s dry policy.
Such victories remind citizens of the thin line between order and chaos in prohibition zones, with law keepers holding firm.
