Mathura Cops Neutralize Wanted Bawariya Gang Duo in Deadly Clash
1 min readA predawn police encounter in Mathura has ended with two most-wanted Bawariya gang members dead, marking a significant win in the fight against organized dacoity. The operation in Surir’s Tentiganj area targeted fugitives behind a savage home invasion.
Identified as Rajasthan’s Dharmveer alias Lambu and Rajendra alias Pappu—each with a Rs 50,000 reward—these gangsters were cornered based on intelligence. When surrounded, they fired wildly at the approaching SWAT team, prompting lethal retaliation.
Both succumbed to gunshot wounds en route to hospital care. SWAT chief Ajay Verma and Constable Durvij Singh suffered injuries but are out of danger.
The trigger was the April 23 nightmare at trader Ajay Agarwal’s house. For two terror-filled hours, masked raiders held hostages, fleeing with Rs 3.22 lakh cash and Rs 12 lakh jewelry after wrecking CCTV systems.
Seventeen teams swung into action, piecing together footage that traced the trail to Aligarh’s Khair, where a similar bid failed on April 25. Despite aliases and evasion tactics, identification was swift.
Their criminal dossiers are damning: 16 cases for one, 11 for the other, encompassing murders and heists. Seized evidence includes looted goods, weapons, and money.
SSP Shlok Kumar emphasized the duo’s shrewdness but affirmed police resolve. The force now hunts the broader Bawariya network, signaling zero tolerance for such threats.
