Mehbooba seeks neutral probe into Parimpora encounter

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti sought on Friday an neutral investigation into the killing of three youths in an alleged faux encounter right here two days in the past and demanded that the our bodies be returned to their households.
In a letter to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Mufti stated such incidents introduced “disrepute” to the armed forces and are “a grave violation” of human rights.
“I am sure you are aware of the unfortunate incident at Parimpora on 30th December. Three boys, the youngest being all of 17 years old, were killed in what the family has alleged to be a staged gunfight,” she stated.
“Questions are also looming over this encounter & there are conflicting versions & reports from police & the army. Justice can be served only if its swift & therefore I request you to initiate an impartial investigation into the matter immediately,” the previous chief minister stated.
Police had claimed on Wednesday to have killed three militants in an in a single day encounter in Parimpora space of Srinagar, however households of the slain youths stated that they had no reference to militancy and that two of them had been college students.
Mufti stated the incident comes shut on the heels of police submitting a cost sheet towards an Army officer and two others in reference to the killing of three males from Rajouri district in an alleged faux encounter at Amshipora in Shopian final July.

Meanwhile, Anantnag MP Hasnain Masoodi spoke to Sinha on Thursday night over the problem, the National Conference stated, including that the Lt governor has assured an neutral inquiry into the incident.
