Mizoram under-construction railway bridge collapse dying toll rises to 21

GUWAHATI: The dying toll in an under-construction railway bridge collapse in Mizoram, on Wednesday, has risen to 21.
The Mizoram authorities on Thursday stated that whereas 21 individuals misplaced their lives within the incident, three have been injured and two have been lacking.
The deceased, in addition to the injured and the lacking individuals, have been from West Bengal.
The deceased have been recognized as Naba Chowdhury, Mojammel Haque, Narim Rahman, Ranjit Sarkar, Kashim SK, Samrul Haque, Jhallu Sarkar, Sakirul SL, Masrekul Haque, Saidur Rahman, Rahim SK, Suman Sarkar, Sariful SK, Insarul Haque, Jayanta Sarkar, Md Jhahidul Sheikh, Manirul Nadap, Sebul Mia, Asim Ali, Nurul Haque and Sahin Akhtar. They all hailed from West Bengal’s Malda district.
The injured have been Nazim Hussain, Kisno Das and Subha Sardar, all from Kolkata. Sardar, an engineer, fractured his hand and was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Aizawl. His situation was secure. Hussain and Das have been discharged from a hospital after first help.
The individuals reported lacking have been Mojaffar Ali and Senaul, each from Malda.
The incident occurred at Sairang, 21 km from the state capital Aizawl, round 9:30 a.m. The Bairabi-Sairang rail head is a part of the capital connectivity venture.
Sources from the Railways stated a girder (a metal construction on which monitor is laid) had collapsed whereas it was being put in. The girder was designed by the STUP guide and proof-checked by the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
The bridge didn’t undergo any injury and the pillars – the tallest being 95 metres – are intact, the sources added.
The Railways constituted a high-level committee to probe the incident and introduced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for every of these killed, Rs 2 lakh for many who sustained grievous accidents and Rs 50,000 for many who sustained minor accidents.
