Mizoram’s infrastructure landscape received a major upgrade as Chief Minister Lalduhoma cut the ribbon on the Faith Bridge across Tlawng River Tuesday. This 100m x 7.5m engineering feat, equipped with sidewalks and capable of handling 385 MT loads, was built with Rs 43.83 crore from the central road ministry. Primarily aimed at fortifying links to Tripura and Bangladesh, it will dramatically improve safety and efficiency in the state’s west.
Delays marred the project—a pulley snap in December 2024 pushed back the launch, but a triumphant redo in April 2025 led to full completion by September, including access roads. Replacing a frail Bailey bridge prone to failures, Faith Bridge ends era of load limits and mandatory unloadings, paving way for uninterrupted heavy transport.
For Mamit district’s 90 villages and 85,000 souls, it’s a game-changer, supercharging rubber farming under the Chief Minister Rubber Mission while connecting to Lengpui Airport, NIT Mizoram, Tripura, and Bangladesh. Langkai River sand logistics get a lift too. Amid Mizoram’s sparse 46.37 km road density per 100 sq km, the CM prioritized such builds, lauding Union Minister Gadkari’s role.
Meticulous construction featured site labs for material checks, Rourkela steel assembly, Thai tension rods, and exhaustive load trials proving all-around safety. In this border-rich hilly state adjacent to Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, the bridge is poised to ignite economic corridors and foster lasting connectivity.
