Amit Shah’s latest tour of Gandhinagar showcased both administrative empowerment and physical infrastructure. After opening a new panchayat office in Kalol, the minister told local residents that village bodies now enjoy greater financial autonomy and administrative clout than ever before. He simultaneously laid foundation stones for several community ponds aimed at drought-proofing farmland and inaugurated a primary school constructed under the flagship education mission. In Sonipur village, Shah green-lit and dedicated projects totaling Rs 340 crore, covering roads, water supply, and sanitation. He also revisited the sensitive issue of border fencing, reminding the audience that the BJP had promised swift action along the Bangladesh frontier and delivered within days of assuming office. He singled out the new West Bengal government for transferring over 700 hectares to the BSF, including strategic land in the Chicken’s Neck corridor. Shah claimed these measures have produced an immediate drop in infiltration, with many erstwhile entrants now leaving voluntarily. He portrayed the combination of stronger local governance and tighter border control as evidence of a comprehensive development-and-security doctrine that places villages at its core.
