Multi-district water testing lab arrange in Mohali

The Water Supply and Sanitation division on Thursday inaugurated the Multi District Water Testing Laboratory right here at Water Works Complex, Phase II in Mohali.
Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Razia Sultana stated the initiative would complement the dedication of state authorities to supply satisfactory services for testing and monitoring of consuming water being supplied to rural inhabitants of Punjab. She added that the laboratory was geared up with newest devices like Ultra Violet (UV) – Visible Spectrophotometer, Ion Meter, BOD Incubator, COD Digester, Turbidity meter and others to check 18 chemical parameters of consuming water.

The minister stated along with routine monitoring and surveillance of departmental rural water provide sources, the laboratory wouldbe open to public and different establishments at nominal expenses. She stated the lab would primarily cater to wants of Mohali, Rupnagar and SBS Nagar districts. The minister additional stated the division of Water Supply and Sanitation has deliberate to determine a 3 tier community of Water Testing Laboratories comprising of a state lab at Mohali, six multi-district Water Testing Labs and 24 Sub Unit Labs at block degree.
Principal Secretary Jaspreet Talwar stated that the division has already arrange high-tech multi-district lab at Amritsar, whereas three multi-district labs have been arrange at Moga, and Hoshiarpur and Sangrur could be commissioned by May 2021. ens
