Authorities in Nagpur, Maharashtra, are investigating a car crash involving a 40-year-old army officer, Harshpal Mahadev Waghmare, who is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident resulted in injuries to approximately 25 to 30 individuals. Waghmare, who was on leave from Assam, was driving towards Hamlapuri via Durga Chowk when the incident occurred on Sunday evening. In the Nagardhan area, he lost control of his vehicle, leading to a collision with a group of pedestrians. The car subsequently overturned and ended up in a roadside drain. Witnesses at the scene reacted by pulling Waghmare from the vehicle and assaulting him. The Ramtek police were called to the scene, took Waghmare into custody, and transported him to a hospital for treatment. A medical test is planned to confirm if the officer was intoxicated.
