New Vande Bharat Sleeper Links Mumbai-Bengaluru Seamlessly
1 min readTravelers between India’s commercial capital Mumbai and IT powerhouse Bengaluru will soon enjoy a luxurious overnight ride on the approved Vande Bharat Sleeper train. CM Devendra Fadnavis broke the news via X, crediting PM Modi and Minister Vaishnaw for fast-tracking the project.
Starting from CSMT Mumbai and ending at KSR Bengaluru City Junction, this service targets frequent commuters seeking speed and comfort over long distances.
Where older trains like Udyan Express stretch the trip to 22-24 hours, the new Vande Bharat compresses it to 13-15 hours. This efficiency stems from its semi-high-speed capabilities on selected routes.
The tentative itinerary includes stops at Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, and Wadi, prioritizing the compact, electrified 1,136 km Kalaburagi corridor for optimal performance.
Equipped with state-of-the-art features, the 16-coach AC train offers seats and berths for 823 people across 11 AC 3-tier, 4 AC 2-tier, and 1 AC First Class car. Standout amenities include hot showers in First Class, elevating the experience.
This development reflects the railway ministry’s vision for modernizing long-haul travel. It not only saves time but also provides premium facilities, potentially increasing ridership and reducing road congestion.
Fadnavis described the train as a boon for Maharashtra-Karnataka ties. With its launch on the horizon, it promises to redefine inter-city journeys, blending speed, safety, and sophistication.
