Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made headlines on Monday by dedicating ultra-modern medical infrastructure at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital in Delhi. Leading the charge is the region’s first 256-slice spectral CT scanner in a public facility, alongside a brand-new neuro cath lab and an enhanced 16-bed neuro ICU with operation theater suite.
This 20-crore powerhouse scanner employs always-on spectral tech for rapid, high-resolution imaging of vital organs. It excels in pinpointing heart conditions, tumors, strokes, and neurovascular issues with minimal radiation, proving invaluable for time-sensitive diagnoses.
At the ceremony, joined by Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Gupta declared, ‘We’re building a health ecosystem where excellence meets affordability. These facilities will serve not just Delhiites but patients nationwide.’ The upgrades aim to match private hospitals’ capabilities, fostering trust in public healthcare.
The neuro cath lab, installed at 9 crore cost with Philips technology, targets severe conditions like aneurysms and brain hemorrhages. Projected to treat 1,200+ patients per year, it slashes risks in neurological emergencies through precise, immediate procedures.
The revamped neuro ICU, funded by 2 crore rupees, features state-of-the-art patient surveillance and surgical support. Its 16 beds ensure round-the-clock care for post-op and critical cases, staffed by experts for optimal outcomes.
Minister Singh added, ‘These innovations end the era of prolonged suffering for neuro patients. Swift, accurate treatment is now a reality in our public system.’
Positioned as a step towards PM Modi’s global health vision, this development cements Delhi’s role as an emerging medical powerhouse. It promises reduced wait times, better survival rates, and equitable access, marking a new chapter in the capital’s health narrative.
