Odisha: Infant branded throughout physique by ‘healer’, dies

A FOUR-MONTH boy died Saturday in Nabarangpur district of Odisha after being branded with iron rods throughout his physique by a conventional healer.
The boy, Muna, son of Trinath Nayak of Lokiguda village, was operating excessive fever and chilly for the previous couple of days. Despite the mother and father taking him to a number of well being facilities, his situation continued to deteriorate. “We were desperate to treat him as he was in a lot of pain. A friend of ours asked us to visit the healer,” Nayak stated.
The bereaved mother and father of their criticism alleged that the healer seared Muna’s physique with scorching iron at practically 20 locations.

“He was in a critical condition when brought here so we moved him to the district health headquarters. But he succumbed to the injuries,” stated Dr Sachikanta Lenka of the Community Health Centre stated.
The police have booked the healer below IPC Section 304 and have launched a manhunt.
