The Indian Army has launched ‘Operation SHIVA 2025,’ a large-scale security operation to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Yatra. The operation is designed to address the increased security concerns, particularly those related to Pakistan-sponsored proxy groups. The aim of Operation SHIVA 2025 is to establish a robust security framework for the Yatra along both its northern and southern routes, in collaboration with the Civil Administration and CAPFs. Key components include a multi-layered counter-terrorism grid, proactive security measures, and enhanced protection corridors. Over 8,500 troops are involved, backed by advanced technical support. A dedicated C-UAS arrangement is in place to address drone threats, along with engineer task forces for infrastructure development and disaster response. Medical support includes extensive facilities, personnel, and oxygen provisions. Emergency rations, Quick Reaction Teams, and essential equipment have been deployed. The Army is also using reconnaissance applications like high-resolution cameras and live drone feeds to monitor Yatra movements, supporting a safe and spiritually enriching pilgrimage for the devotees.
