He mentioned that as per the Registration of ELectors Rules, 1960, the Electoral Registration Officer can strike off names of lifeless individuals or of individuals not resident of a specific constituency earlier than the ultimate publication of the voter record.
On November 18, the draft electoral rolls for the 126 meeting constituencies in Assam had been printed, containing 2.24 crore voters, together with 1.17 lakh first-timers.
