Part of outdated bridge on Bhogavo river collapses in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district; 4 injured

SURENDRANAGAR: At least 4 individuals have been injured after a portion of an outdated bridge on the Bhogavo river in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district collapsed on Sunday night, an official stated.

The incident occurred when a 40-ton dumper was attempting to cross the bridge on a panchayat highway close to Wadhwan metropolis, though the entry of heavy automobiles was banned, the official stated.

“A dumper and two motorcycles were on the bridge when its first slab collapsed, leaving four persons with minor injuries,” stated Surendranagar Collector KC Sampat.

The heavy automobile and bikes fell into the Bhogavo river, he stated.

The collector stated the bridge was almost 4 many years outdated and it was underneath the care of the state Road and Buildings Department.

The bridge connecting the National Highway to Chuda in Suredndra Nagar dis, #Gujarat has fallen. Vehicles,together with vans, have been washed into the river. A warning board was put up and the bridge was barricaded to forestall the motion of heavy automobiles, he stated.

“Despite the barricades, a 40-ton dumper tried to cross the bridge, leading to the collapse of its first slab,” the collector stated.

He stated the request for a brand new bridge was already forwarded.
