PIB Fact Check Slams Fake Rajnath Singh BLA Statement

A fresh wave of cross-border disinformation has been exposed by India’s official fact-checking machinery. Pakistan-origin social media accounts falsely attributed a statement to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh endorsing the Balochistan Liberation Army. The claim was quickly traced back to known propaganda networks and declared fabricated. Investigators found no record of any such remarks by the minister. The PIB Fact Check unit issued an immediate clarification stating that the post was designed to create confusion and tarnish India’s image. Users were advised not to forward any material from accounts that have previously promoted similar falsehoods. The incident comes shortly after another deepfake controversy involving a senior Indian Navy officer. In that case, an AI-altered video was used to claim that Pakistan had targeted Indian aircraft and airbases. Both episodes underscore the increasing sophistication of attempts to manipulate public perception through digital means. Authorities have reiterated that the public should remain vigilant and report suspicious posts. Official helplines and email addresses have been provided for this purpose. The government continues to strengthen its digital monitoring capabilities to counter such threats effectively.
