The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) has expressed deep concerns regarding the preliminary findings concerning the Air India flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad. The FIP has formally objected to the exclusion of pilot representatives from the AAIB investigation. Furthermore, the pilots’ body has strongly criticized the way the preliminary report has been presented to the public. The FIP claims the report lacks sufficient data and relies excessively on paraphrased cockpit voice recordings, potentially leading to the misinterpretation of events. The federation urges stakeholders to refrain from making any premature conclusions. The AAIB’s preliminary report indicates the engines were moved to ‘cutoff,’ halting the fuel supply, with one pilot denying initiating the action. The AI 171 crash resulted in the death of 260 people, including passengers, crew members, and individuals on the ground.
