PMO to carry high-level assembly on Joshimath sinking disaster

NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister’s Office will maintain a high-level assembly on the Joshimath disaster on Sunday afternoon amid alarm within the Uttarakhand area as a result of sinking of land and cracks in homes at a number of locations.

P Ok Mishra, the principal secretary to the prime minister, will maintain the evaluation assembly with the cabinet secretary, different senior officers of the central authorities and members of the National Disaster Management Authority, an official assertion mentioned.

District officers of Joshimath moreover senior officers of Uttarakhand will even attend the evaluation assembly via video-conferencing.

Uttrakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Joshimath on Saturday to evaluate the scenario on the bottom, a day after he directed the speedy evacuation of round 600 affected households.

Dhami mentioned Joshimath is a crucial place from the cultural, non secular and tourism perspective and all efforts can be made to put it aside.

Joshimath, the gateway to well-known pilgrimage websites like Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib and worldwide snowboarding vacation spot Auli, is going through a significant problem because of land subsidence.
