AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel utilized a ‘biryani party’ at his residence as a form of protest against the meat ban imposed by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation. The ban, affecting meat shops and slaughterhouses, was enacted on August 15 and 20, coinciding with Independence Day and religious festivals. Jaleel criticized Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his silence on the matter, advocating for the freedom of dietary choices. The party featured chicken biryani along with a vegetarian option, reflecting a message of inclusivity. Earlier, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi spoke against similar meat bans imposed by other municipalities, arguing that they were unconstitutional and violated basic rights, including the right to practice one’s culture and religion.
