Intelligence-driven, Hathunia station personnel targeted a lonely field shack on Asawata-Kulthana stretch. Peeling back cement coverings exposed a professional-grade drug facility. Officers carted away 1.897 kg of mephedrone, pegged at Rs 1.60 crore on global illicit markets.
Raw materials and tools like electronic scales, mixers, heaters, and induction cookers were recovered. Captured were Asawata’s Murad Khan Pathan and Mehsana’s Mohammad Junaid, both confessing to recent synthesis efforts.
Accomplices Jivan Anjana and Ujjain’s Sharik alias Jerry slipped away in the shadows; manhunts are underway. A pistol with ammo was lifted from Murad, a repeat offender facing NDPS and murder attempt charges. Smugglers’ Yamaha bike and car now in custody.
