The nation prepares to celebrate Republic Day with special honors for Gujarat Police, where 16 distinguished officers and staff will receive President’s Police Medals, as declared by the Union Home Ministry on Sunday. This timely announcement from New Delhi and Gandhinagar celebrates selfless service in the face of formidable challenges.
President Droupadi Murmu’s conferment during the grand parade will mark the pinnacle for two Gujarat IPS officers: Nipun Thorawne (ADGP and Home Dept ACS) and SS Raghuvanshi, recipients of the prestigious PSM for distinguished service. Their strategic oversight in policing and governance has yielded lasting impacts.
Fourteen more will be awarded MSM for meritorious service, drawing from intelligence bureaus, monitoring units, jails, vehicle fleets, coastal guards, municipal forces in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, and reserve battalions. Spanning all levels, these awards spotlight holistic contributions.
Honors stem from stellar records in counter-terrorism, intel prowess, crime control, emergency response, penal innovations, and order maintenance. “A proud moment that mirrors our force’s excellence,” beamed DGP Dr. KLN Rao, congratulating the lot and predicting heightened motivation for public service.
The state Home Department lauded the achievers, reinforcing Gujarat’s stature in national policing. These medals arrive as reminders of the human element behind institutional success, inspiring future generations to uphold justice and security with equal fervor.
