In a bold stand against what she deems political vendetta, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has rallied behind arrested Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib. The Congress leader from Wayanad slammed Delhi Police’s move as ‘shameful,’ vowing that the grand old party will not abandon its courageous young brigade.
Vadra’s X post painted a vivid picture of Congress’s heritage: non-violent struggles for truth, inspired by the Mahatma and echoed by generations of freedom fighters. She lambasted the government for kowtowing to foreign lobbies, harming India’s core interests—a stance, she argued, demands collective resistance from 140 crore citizens.
Describing the targeting of Youth Congress for public advocacy as ‘despicable,’ she affirmed: ‘Congress stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its undaunted Youth Congress soldiers.’
The uproar spread across leadership. KC Venugopal decried the silencing of voices for the masses, farmers, and everyday Indians. Randeep Singh Surjewala framed opposition as a moral imperative: ‘If it’s a crime, we’ll proudly repeat it.’
Chib’s mother, Rajni Bala, broke her silence, confirming the Monday detention and rejecting the ‘plot’ narrative. ‘Protesting bad governance is our constitutional right,’ she asserted, reminiscing about Congress icons who spent years imprisoned for the nation. Unlike today, she noted, protests thrived unhindered under Congress governance a decade back.
This flare-up comes amid Youth Congress-led protests spotlighting government shortcomings. Priyanka’s fiery response energizes supporters, framing the party as democracy’s true guardian against authoritarian overreach, with more confrontations likely on the horizon.
