Just days after a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska, Russian President Putin spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussion, which occurred on Monday, focused on the conflict in Ukraine, with Modi reiterating India’s call for a peaceful resolution. The Prime Minister’s office announced that India would support all efforts towards this goal. Modi and Putin also explored avenues for bilateral cooperation and agreed to maintain regular contact. On social media, Modi thanked Putin for providing insights into the Alaska meeting. Putin stated the meeting with Trump was ‘timely’ and allowed them to reiterate their stance. Trump considered the meeting to be ‘very productive’ but declined to provide details and urged Ukraine to accept Russia’s ceasefire terms. The phone call preceded a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump at the White House, which would also involve Germany’s Friedrich Merz and France’s Emmanuel Macron.
