Rajasthan: Sarpanches’ protest demanding minister Ramesh Meena’s ouster enters day two

JAIPUR: The protest launched by sarpanches in opposition to Rajasthan’s Panchayati Raj Minister Ramesh Meena entered Day 2 on Saturday as they continued to demand his ouster for calling them “corrupt”.

For his half, Meena mentioned he had uncovered shortcomings in an inquiry and motion was taken in opposition to officers concerned in irregularities in Barmer, Nagaur and Bhilwara.

He, nevertheless, mentioned no motion was taking in opposition to the sarpanches.

State secretary of Sarpanch Sangh, Hanuman Chaudhary, had on Friday mentioned the minister made the assertion in Nagaur someday again.

“The allegations against sarpanches are baseless. We demand his sacking. We are hurt by his allegations,” he mentioned.

Sarpanches and up-sarpanches have assembled in Jaipur’s Mansarover and are elevating slogans in opposition to Meena.

On the opposite hand, the minister instructed reporters that the standard of works finished in a panchayat are checked and motion is taken when irregularities are discovered.

“I have just exposed shortcomings in the works. Where there were irregularities, action against officials have been taken. No action against any sarpanch has been taken so far because we want improvement. Some of the sarpanches are afraid of inquiry. Therefore, such a protest is being held,” he mentioned.

He claimed that almost all sarpanches and different public representatives are with the federal government and the agitation is being held by a faction.
