Azam Khan, a senior Samajwadi Party figure, will be freed from Sitapur Jail on Tuesday, September 23, after the Allahabad High Court granted him bail in the Quality Bar land grab case. This marks the end of his two-year imprisonment. The release order from the Rampur court was received by jail officials, though the actual release time has been adjusted from the original 7 am due to the outstanding financial obligations. Azam Khan’s son, Adeeb Azam, has arrived to meet him, and security measures have been intensified in Rampur. The Quality Bar land case centers on the allegation that Khan, during his time as a Cabinet Minister in 2013, misused his authority to lease land to a family member. Khan has faced almost 80 cases and has been granted bail in the majority.
