Rape survivor tied, paraded with accused in Madhya Pradesh village; 6 held

A 16-year-old lady was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man on Sunday in tribal-dominated Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh, following which villagers paraded each the accused and the sufferer in public by tying them with ropes, police mentioned.
A complete of six individuals, together with the person who’s accused of rape, and 5 villagers, have been arrested.
A video displaying the lady and the accused tied with ropes, being overwhelmed and compelled to stroll in public within the village beneath Jobat police station amidst slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” has gone viral on social media.
The lady was rescued by police, a senior officer mentioned. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Dilip Singh Bilwal mentioned two circumstances have been registered on Sunday on the FIRs lodged by the sufferer.
“One of the cases was registered against the 21-year-old man who is accused of rape. Another FIR was registered against family members of the girl and villagers for parading her in the village and beating her,” Bilwal mentioned, including that the rape accused is married with two youngsters.
He has been booked beneath sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and beneath provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Family members and family members of the sufferer have been booked beneath sections 294 (Obscene act in public locations), 355 (Assault or felony pressure with intent to dishonour individual), 323 (voluntarily inflicting harm), 342 (wrongful confinement) and different sections of the IPC, the officer mentioned.
