The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a major arrest in the ongoing investigation into the November 10th Red Fort car blast, apprehending Amir Rashid Ali, a Kashmiri man suspected of assisting the suicide bomber. This development is seen as a significant breakthrough in a case that tragically resulted in 10 deaths and left 32 individuals wounded.
Officials confirmed on Sunday that Ali was arrested in Delhi. He is accused of facilitating the attack by arranging the Hyundai i20 that was used as a vehicle-borne bomb. The car was reportedly registered in his name, making his alleged involvement central to the plot.
Investigators have established a direct link between Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Samboora, Pampore, and the suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi. Ali’s alleged role was to secure the vehicle for Nabi, who is now confirmed through forensic evidence to be the perpetrator. Nabi, originally from Pulwama, was previously employed as an Assistant Professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad.
The NIA’s intensified efforts include the seizure of a second vehicle that is believed to be connected to Nabi and is currently being examined for crucial evidence. The agency has also meticulously interviewed 73 witnesses, including those who suffered injuries during the bombing, to reconstruct the events and identify all conspirators.
In its pursuit of a comprehensive understanding of the terror plot, the NIA is working in close collaboration with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, and Uttar Pradesh Police. This multi-agency effort aims to thoroughly investigate the conspiracy and apprehend all individuals implicated in the Red Fort attack.
