Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia spotlighted the revised BharatNet project on Monday, a colossal Rs 1.39 lakh crore endeavor to deliver optical fiber cables and broadband to India’s villages, starting strong in Andhra Pradesh.
A tripartite MoC was formalized between DBN, DoT, and the state government to turbocharge the Revised BharatNet rollout.
Scindia passionately articulated, ‘Technology’s democratization reaches every citizen, enabling talents and dreams to shine globally in our era.’
Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Minister of State, praised the MoC for its robust structure under state leadership, blending financial aid with responsibility to amplify connectivity, 4G expansion, and dependable digital services at affordable rates for rural folk.
The agreement establishes a solid base for accelerated expansion. The state vows comprehensive aid in ROW, infrastructure entry, and alignments.
Funding primarily from DBN, with state collaboration, will see the network harnessed for optimal public good.
Centre’s Rs 2,432 crore approval targets fiber for over five lakh rural homes, enhancing e-governance, service efficiency, and access to online education, digital finance, governance tools, and telehealth in underserved areas.
