In the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Ujjain’s preparations for the 2028 Simhastha have accelerated with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurating the Rs 1133 crore Hariyakhedi Water Supply Augmentation Project. The foundation laying event underscores the state’s resolve to upgrade civic infrastructure for the anticipated pilgrim surge.
Managed by the Ujjain Nagar Nigam, the scheme will erect 17 overhead tanks varying from 600 to 3000 kiloliter capacities. Spanning 708 kilometers of pipelines—with over half as fresh distribution lines—it promises 24/7 water access, tackling scarcity issues head-on.
This move aligns with a multi-pronged development drive. From encroachment removals near sacred sites like Mahakaleshwar to road expansions and Kshipra ghats renovation, every effort caters to the event’s scale. Millions will flock for the royal bath in the holy river, demanding flawless logistics.
During the ceremony, CM Yadav outlined the vision: seamless facilities blending ancient rituals with modern amenities. He flagged off complementary projects enhancing sanitation, transport, and public safety.
Experts hail the initiative as forward-thinking, potentially serving as a blueprint for other Kumbh host cities. With construction in full swing, Ujjain’s landscape is evolving rapidly—old bottlenecks giving way to efficient networks.
The project’s fruition will not only support Simhastha but also elevate daily life for residents long-term. Madhya Pradesh’s leadership positions the event as a catalyst for enduring progress, drawing global attention to India’s spiritual epicenter.
