In a significant operation against cross-border crime, the Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 20 gold biscuits, amounting to Rs 2.82 crore, and apprehended an Indian national in West Bengal. The successful seizure occurred near the Horandipur Border Outpost, a sensitive area along the India-Bangladesh frontier.
The BSF’s 32 Battalion, operating under the South Bengal Frontier, acted on credible intelligence regarding a planned smuggling activity. The intelligence indicated that gold, sourced from Bangladesh, was being moved towards India via the Horandipur region by a resident of Muslimpara village. The tip-off was received on the night of October 11.
In response, BSF troops established a strategic ambush at a suspected point. At dawn, around 6 a.m., the alert forces noticed a person moving furtively behind dense bamboo growth. The individual was immediately intercepted and taken into custody.
A subsequent search yielded a packet containing 20 gold biscuits, totaling 2332.66 grams in weight. The arrested individual and the valuable gold have been passed on to the designated authorities for further investigation and legal action to dismantle the smuggling syndicate.
