SC dismisses plea of BJP chief Manoj Tiwari in opposition to summons issued in Sisodia’s defamation case

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea of BJP chief Manoj Tiwari difficult a Delhi High Court order refusing to quash summons of a trial court docket right here in opposition to him in a felony defamation case.
A bench comprising Justices S Abdul Nazeer and V Ramasubramaniam, nevertheless, allowed the plea of BJP chief Vijender Gupta difficult the excessive court docket order.
“We have dismissed the appeal by Manoj Tiwari and allowed the appeal by Vijender Gupta on grounds that the history of the law commission report was not properly traced,” the bench mentioned.
The personal defamation grievance was filed by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in opposition to the BJP leaders for allegedly levelling corruption fees in opposition to him.
The BJP leaders have challenged a trial court docket’s November 28, 2019 order summoning them and others as accused within the felony defamation case filed by Sisodia.
Sisodia had filed the grievance in opposition to BJP leaders — Members of Parliament Tiwari, Hans Raj Hans and Pravesh Verma, MLAs Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Gupta, and BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana — for allegedly making corruption fees in opposition to him in relation to Delhi authorities college lecture rooms.
Sisodia had acknowledged that each one the allegations made by the BJP leaders collectively and individually have been false, defamatory, and derogatory with an intention to hurt and injury his fame and goodwill.
