Schools shut after excessive rise in flu-like sickness amongst youngsters in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry authorities on Friday declared the closure of colleges for college kids learning from lessons 1 to VII from Saturday until 25 September following a excessive rise in flu-like sickness amongst youngsters.
Joint Director of Education V G Sivagami issued the round for government-run and personal colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
The determination of the Department of School Education was taken primarily based on the advice of the Health Department to close the faculties.
“During the last 10 days, there have been at least 50 per cent spike in fever cases among children and their turnout at hospitals has also been on the rise,” a spokesperson of the Health Department instructed PTI.
The government-run Rajiv Gandhi Women and Child Hospital has been receiving a lot of youngsters with complaints of fever, cough and chilly, the spokesperson stated.
