Echoing Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s appeal, All India Muslim Jamaat chief Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has defended her vocal opposition to Israel, especially as PM Modi concluded his official visit to the Jewish state.
Priyanka urged Modi to confront the Knesset about the slaughter of innocents in Gaza and advocate for justice, reminding that India has historically championed righteousness. Her words strike at the heart of India’s moral foreign policy.
From Bareilly, Razvi told IANS that Priyanka’s intervention on Gaza and Palestine was righteous and timely. ‘She has consistently opposed Israel,’ he noted. Razvi refrained from calling Modi anti-Muslim, praising his outreach to Arabs and domestic Muslims, but slammed the Netanyahu meeting.
Describing Netanyahu as a corrupt figure accused of mass killings, Razvi referenced Supreme Court trials, imprisoned cronies, and ICC warrants. ‘This was not the moment for such a high-profile visit,’ he warned, citing Israel’s anti-Muslim bias, daily Palestinian strikes, and escalating US-Iran tensions.
Razvi’s critique frames the visit against a volatile backdrop, where Muslim nations oppose Israel fiercely. Ruling camp leaders, however, hail the tour as a milestone for enhanced bilateral cooperation in security, innovation, and agriculture.
Priyanka’s advocacy, now bolstered by Razvi, fuels a national conversation on empathy for Palestine versus strategic alliances. With India’s global image at stake, her message challenges the government to prioritize humanitarian imperatives in diplomacy.
