Tragedy struck Mumbai’s Mulund area as a Metro pillar crumbled during construction, killing one and wounding several. Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey has seized the moment to rail against systemic corruption masquerading as urban development.
Offering sympathies to the bereaved, Dubey didn’t mince words: ‘Why turn development into a fatal gamble? Roads, flyovers, metros—fine, but execute them honestly. No room for fraud. Who’s the errant contractor? Will there be punishment, or just government cover-ups? They owe us answers.’
Dubey then pivoted to cricket diplomacy, equating it to the BJP-Pakistan dynamic. ‘Pakistan flip-flops: no match for threats, yes for dollars. Do we follow their whims like silent fools?’ He slammed Jay Shah and cricket bosses: ‘We back sports, not games with attackers of our women. Sever all links with this terrorist state.’
Predicting an Indian rout, he mocked: ‘Our side dominates anyway. Pakistan’s just greedy for PCB riches, win or lose. Street cricket suits them best.’
The pillar fiasco highlights recurring safety horrors in India’s infrastructure boom. Dubey’s fiery speech taps into public fury, pressuring officials for rigorous probes and reforms. Beyond blame, it spotlights the urgent need for oversight to prevent more needless deaths in pursuit of progress.
