A video showing a BJP leader in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, assaulting a Dalit engineer with a shoe has gone viral, sparking widespread outrage. The incident unfolded at the electricity department and is believed to involve the use of caste-based slurs by the BJP leader. The victim, Superintending Engineer Lal Singh, reported that a group of approximately twenty people barged into his office and attacked him without any apparent reason. Among the individuals identified was former BJP Divisional President Munna Bahadur Singh. The video shows Munna Singh confronting officials and then assaulting the engineer with a shoe. The engineer reported that Munna Bahadur Singh and his supporters attacked him without cause, using a shoe and fists. Conversely, Munna Bahadur Singh claimed that his presence at the office was to submit an application regarding continuous power failures in the neighboring villages, alleging that the engineer used abusive language in response to a proposed sit-in protest.
