NEW DELHI: Farmers’ collective Samyukta Kisan Morcha, which spearheaded the agitation to get the agriculture legal guidelines scrapped, has referred to as a gathering on Tuesday to debate whether or not to advocate names for the Centre’s committee on minimal assist value.

The authorities on Monday shaped a committee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), eight months after it promised to arrange such a panel whereas withdrawing the three contentious farm legal guidelines.

Former agriculture secretary Sanjay Agrawal would be the chairman of the committee.

The authorities has made a provision to incorporate three members from the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) within the panel.

“Today, we are holding a meeting to decide whether we should send names of three SKM leaders for the government’s panel. We will announce our decision after the meeting,” SKM chief Abhimanyu Kohar instructed PTI.

Under the umbrella of SKM, 1000’s of farmers had held a year-long agitation at Delhi borders and compelled the federal government to withdraw the farm legal guidelines.

While saying the repeal of three farm legal guidelines in November final yr, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to arrange a committee to debate the farmers’ demand for a authorized assure on MSP.

The Agriculture Ministry issued a gazette notification saying the organising of a committee on this regard.

Among farmers’ representatives, the committee could have nationwide award-winning farmer Bharat Bhushan Tyagi, three members from SKM, and 5 members from different farmer organisations that embrace Gunwant Patil, Krishnaveer Choudhary, Pramod Kumar Choudhary, Guni Prakash and Sayyed Pasha Patel.

Two members of the farmers’ cooperative, IFFCO Chairman Dilip Sanghani and CNRI General Secretary Binod Anand are included within the panel.
