A property belonging to Mian Abdul Qayoom, former president of the High Court Bar Association (HCBA), has been attached by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The action is part of an ongoing investigation into a 2009 case involving an alleged anti-national seminar. The attached asset is a double-storey house in the Bulbul Bagh area of Barzulla, Srinagar. Under the stringent framework of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), authorities have moved to seize the property, citing it as ‘proceeds of terrorism’. Evidence gathered during the probe, including materials linked to militant groups, supported this determination. The attachment order was officially sanctioned by DGP Nalin Prabhat and has been communicated to the relevant police departments for execution. This legal maneuver comes after Qayoom’s arrest in 2020, which was related to the fatal shooting of Advocate Babar Qadri.
